Ania ([a.ni'.a])

Background: The Thaksin clan consists of several companies of wanderers descended from a group of disenfranchised citizens banished from the Realm two centuries ago. (Stories vary within the clan about the reason for the town's disgrace and the people's exile.) The refugees' children made it to the Hundred Kingdoms, married into the local nomadic Wandering Families, and created a new life for themselves independent of any local authority. They travel throughout the Kingdoms in wagon groups, making their living as tinkers, craftsmen, and farm laborers.

Ania is one of several children of a respected company leader, and spent her childhood wandering with her family. Her father taught her to distrust authority and to value the product of a hard day's work; her mother taught her that the variety of cultures they visited should be enjoyed, not feared. When she Exalted at twelve, her feelings were distinctly mixed. On the one hand, she was drafted into what was most definitely an authority, and was losing her beloved family. On the other hand, she would be able to see far more of the world as a Siderial than as a tinker, and might have the opportunity to change the world for the better.

Her mentor in Heaven was Phoenix and Wind Sage, an Independent Chosen of Serenity who is himself a former student of Nazri's. (Note to GM: This may eventually become a lever into some other Division's internal politics, since Serenity is in internal disarray. Improving his position in the Division or on some Convention seems like the right way to increase the Sifu background.)

Long-term Goal: Add new Virtues to Creation. (Self-determination and/or industriousness?)

Motivation: Bring upward socal mobility to the mortal lower classes of the Realm and Realm-influenced cultures.

Intimacies: Her family. The well-being of the common people. (Need two more, I think.)
